AFCON 2023: Black Stars arrive in Cote d’Ivoire in style

Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars have landed in Cote d’Ivoire with pomp and pageantry as they get ready to defend the flag of Ghana in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Ghanaians arrived in the West African country in a fashionable style as players and officials showcased Ghana’s rich and colorful culture.

In their colorful Kente cloths, the Black Stars were warmly welcomed by traditional dancers to usher the team into a festive mood.

Before leaving the shores of Ghana, President Nana Akufo-Addo held a farewell dinner for the team. He reposed confidence in the team that they have what it takes to break the 41-year-old jinx.

Ghana is seeking to end the 41-year trophy drought and will compete in Group B alongside record African champions Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique. The Stars will open their group stage campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
