2023 African Games: Princesses beat Nigeria to win Gold in Women’s soccer
Ghana’s U-20 female side, the Black Princesses have beaten their Nigerian counterparts to win Gold in the ongoing African Games in Ghana.
The West African rivals were all vying for Gold but it was the Ghanaians who laughed last with a 2-1 victory over their archrivals.
In a cagey grand finale in Cape Coast, it was the Nigerians who struck first when Edeh Njideka capitalized on a mistake by Ghana’s goalkeeper Afi Ameyeku in the first half.
The Princesses fought hard and got the equalizer through Tracey Twum after 77 minutes and with no more goals in regulation time, the game traveled to extra time.
Just in the first half of the extra time, striker Abdulai Mukarama who has been a revelation in the competition, scored the winner with a low drive that completely beat the Nigerian goalie.
