Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales has refused to resign after his inappropriate behavior at the Women’s World Cup final.
Rubiales, 46, was seen kissing forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain’s 1-0 victory over England. He apologized for the kiss, but the football world wanted to see him out of the federation.
“I will not resign, I will not resign”, Rubiales told an extraordinary general assembly called by the federation
Meanwhile, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has informed Rubiales that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against him based on the events that occurred during the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
According to FIFA, the events may constitute violations of Article 13 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will only provide further information on these disciplinary proceedings once it has issued a final decision on the matter.
“FIFA reiterates its unwavering commitment to respecting the integrity of all individuals and strongly condemns any behavior to the contrary”, the statement concluded.
