MLS Update: Luciano Acosta becomes the fourth Argentine to win the MLS MVP Award

FC Cincinnati and Argentina midfielder Luciano Acosta has been adjudged the 2023 Landon Donavan MLS MVP.

Acosta thus becomes the fourth Argentine to win the award after he finished ahead of LAFC striker Dénis Bouanga and Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada.

With 17 goals and 14 assists, Acosta helped Cincinnati to the Supporters Shield. He also won the AT&T 5G Goal of the Year award.

Meanwhile, MLS Cup defending champions LAFC will attempt a successful defense to the title they won last year as the MLS Cup Playoffs enter the Conference finals on Saturday, December 2.

The champions will host Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday in the single-elimination Western Conference final.

Ohio rivals Cincinnati FC and Columbus Crew will resume their rivalry in the Eastern Conference final. Supporters Shield winners Cincinnati will have a home-field advantage in the single-elimination final.
