Ghana coach promises to improve team

After a disastrous North American tour

Coach of Ghana’s senior national team, Chris Hughton has promised to improve the team in their subsequent matches.

The Black Stars coach apologized for the team’s disastrous performances against Mexico and the United States during their North American tour.

Ghana lost 2-0 to Mexico on Saturday before suffering an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the hands of the USMNT on Tuesday.

“I’m very sorry, and I take responsibility for the poor performance against the USA”, Hughton said.

Ghana has two World Cup qualifying games against Madagascar and Comoros in November. These two nations may not be strong forces in Africa, but Ghanaians are worried that the Black Stars may falter again.

There is also a general concern back home in Ghana that the current coach of the Black Stars cannot build a strong team to ensure a successful African Cup of Nations campaign next January.

But coach Hughton thinks otherwise.

“The result today is something that is hugely disappointing. We have two games in November and my responsibility as coach is to turn these bad defeats and bad performances into better ones where we can win both games”, he promised.

Meanwhile, Striker Jordan Ayew says new players who have been introduced into the team will need some time to settle in order for the entire players to play as a unit.

“First of all, I feel like we need a bit of time because it is a new group with a lot of new players and most of the players are inexperienced, so it is not easy, but we are working on it because we know we don’t have time and these type of game is a reality check”, he concluded.
