Ghana’s senior female side, the Black Queens have taken a 3-1 lead in the first leg of their final Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Namibia.
Striker Doris Boaduwaa scored twice to hand the Black Queens the advantage at the Accra Stadium on Friday.
Boaduwaa scored the opener after 26 minutes with captain Portia Boakye scoring straight from a corner kick on the 37th minute.
Boaduwaa scored her second and Ghana’s third on the 58th-minute mark with the Namibians scoring a consolation goal after 69 minutes of play.
Ghana travel to Pretoria South Africa for the second leg with a 2-goal cushion on Tuesday, December 5.
Meanwhile, the Morocco 2024 qualifiers continued on Thursday, as nations fought for a place in Africa’s most sought-after women’s football competition.
Reigning champions, South Africa were frustrated by Burkina Faso away from home who held them to a 1-1 stalemate while Tanzania, Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria, Mali, and Senegal secured victories at home in the first leg of the final qualifying rounds.
