Inter Miami coach Phil Neville: I am committed to challenging myself and my players

Inter Miami CF’s new head coach Phil Neville says he is committed to challenging himself, players and everyone around him to grow and build a competitive soccer culture.

Inter Miami on Monday named Phil Neville as the new head coach and Chris Henderson the new chief soccer officer and sporting director as the Major League Soccer (MLS) club enters its second year.

Neville who takes over from Diego Alonso says he is delighted for the new challenge.

“I am incredibly delighted for this opportunity to coach Inter Miami and to work with Chris and the entire ownership group.

“This is a very young club with a lot of promise and upside, and I am committed to challenging myself, my players, and everyone around me to grow and build a competitive soccer culture we can all be proud of. This fantastic soccer-loving market deserves consistent performances and a winning mentality, and I look forward to getting to work”, Neville noted.

The new chief soccer officer and sporting director of the club, Chris Henderson, who spent 13 years with Seattle Sounders in the same capacity, also views his new appointment as “the next step in my career to return back to South Florida and solidify my mark on this league”.

Co-owner David Beckham was hopeful that the new technical direction of the club will propel them to higher heights.

“I am very happy with the leadership group we have established to lead the team as we turn the page following our inaugural season and look forward to having Chris and Phil join us soon”, Beckham added.
