Ghana coach hands debut call-ups to Emmanuel Boateng and Kwasi Okyere

Head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, Kwesi Appiah has named what can be described as an experimental side for the Black Stars’ upcoming international friendly matches against World Cup bound Iceland and Japan in June.

After his wonderful exploits with La Liga side Levante which saw him score a hat-trick against Barcelona, striker Emmanuel Boateng has been given his first call-up to the Black Stars.

Joining him is Bayern Munich’s reserve team striker Kwasi Okyere who scored 22 goals in the reserve league.

The likes of captain Asamoah Gyan, Andre and Jordan Ayew and Columbus Crew defenders Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah were all excused.

The Black Stars will face the two opponents who will use the games to prepare for the World Cup next month in Russia.

Ghana will also use the games as part of preparations for their upcoming 2019 AFCON qualifying games which will come off later this year.
