Accam & Afful join Black Stars camp after Columbus Crew – Chicago Fire clash

Columbus Crew SC defender Harrison Afful and Chicago Fire winger David Accam will join the rest of the Black Stars squad for Friday’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda at the Northern Regional capital of Tamale.

Coach of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, Avram Grant, has added the two American-based players to his 23-man squad but the duo will lock horns on Saturday evening when Columbus Crew play host to Chicago Fire in a Major League Soccer (MLS) regular season encounter before they enplane to Accra, Ghana.

The Black Stars are also scheduled to travel to South Africa immediately after Friday’s World Cup qualifier to face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in an international friendly in Durban on Tuesday October 11.

Avram Grant’s 23-man squad includes Norway-based midfielder Gilbert Koomson who was handed his first Black Stars call-up.

Midfielder Enoch Adu Kofi, who plays in Sweden, returns to the national team for the first time since December 2014.

The team will train in Accra on Monday and Tuesday before flying out to Tamale as they prepare to face the Cranes.

The Black Stars coach has also invited Hearts of Oak defender Inusah Musah and Emmanuel Ocran of Wa All Stars for close observation.
