2022 MLS SuperDraft: Kingsford Adjei picked by NYCFC

Another product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy has been granted a perfect opportunity to play professional soccer in the United States after the 2021 MLS Cup champions New York City FC selected Kingsford Adjei with the 28th pick in the second round of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.

The University of Dayton’s attacking midfielder was picked 56th overall and will join the blue side of New York as he embarks on his professional journey.

“King has had an amazing and inspirational journey coming from the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.

“He is one of the most exciting attacking players in college soccer and it will be exciting to see his progress as the next level. Our staff is grateful to have had the opportunity to coach him”, Dayton head coach Dennis Currier noted.

Adjei completed his senior season this past fall, earning Atlantic 10 First Team honors for the third straight season, and was a two-time A-10 Midfielder of the Year. He finished his Dayton career with 21 goals and 12 assists for 54 points in 36 career starts.
