Seattle Sounders striker Jordan Morris named the MLS Player of the Week

The North American Soccer Reporters have named Seattle Sounders striker Jordan Morris as the Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Week for the first week of the 2020 season.

Morris scored two goals in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire, with both goals assisted by teammate Cristian Roldan. Morris is coming off a season where the Sounders won the MLS Cup title and where he scored 10 goals.

Morris came off the bench and dominated the second half as he scored both of his team's goals with the game-winner coming in the second-half stoppage time to give the 2019 MLS Cup holders a 2-1 victory.

The NASR accounts for 75 percent of the balloting, and fans account for 25 percent by participating in a Twitter poll run by the league. Fans choose from four candidates picked by the league website's staff. Each group's ballots are tallied and weighted to pick the overall winner.
