AFCON 2019: All set for Round of 16!


After 12 days of first round action, the men have been separated from the boys as the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) enters the knockout phase.

The pairings for the Round of 16 have been completed after days of wait and the top two finishers of the six groups and the four best third place teams are raring to battle it out for quarter final tickets.

The tournament takes a short break and resumes on Friday with the first ever Round of 16 game in the history of the AFCON as Morocco entertain Benin who placed third in Group F at the Al Salam Stadium.

On the same day, the Cairo Stadium will host the other Round of 16 encounter between Uganda and Senegal.

Nigeria and Cameroon will lock horns in a dicey encounter at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday while hosts Egypt entertain South Africa at the Cairo Stadium.

Sunday’s action at the Alexandria Stadium is between Madagascar and DR Congo followed by Algeria vs. Guinea at the June 30 Stadium.

Mali will host Cote d’Ivoire at the Suez Stadium on Monday before the Ghana and Tunisia clash at the Ismailia Stadium on the same day.
