2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup: Haiti shock Canada to book a semi-final date with Mexico

Haiti last Saturday put up a spirited performance to defeat Canada as they rallied from two goals down at half-time to score three times in a splendid second 45 minutes to knock the Canadians out of the Gold Cup 3-2.

It was all rosy for Canada in the first half as Jonathan David and Lucas Cavallini, who between them had scored nine goals in their last three games, added another one each in the first half as Canada dominated play in Houston, Texas.

But the Haitians, who had won all three of their group games, qualified for the semi-finals with a great second half performance.

The comeback began five minutes after the break when Duckens Nazon took advantage of a poor pass back from Marcus Godinho to score and then Herve Bazile equalized from the spot after 70 minutes.

Wilde-Donald Guerrier completed the turnaround six minutes later when he latched onto a lovely pass from Nazon and superbly beat the goalkeeper.

Haiti will face Mexico who struggled to beat Costa Rica 5-4 on penalties in the other quarter final game that ended 1-1 after extra time.
