Afful and Mensah of Columbus Crew named in Ghana squad for Ethiopia encounter

Columbus Crew duo Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful are among the 20 players invited by the Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah for this month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.

The US-based defenders are expected to play major roles in the Crew’s attempt to book a ticket to the Eastern Conference final of the Major League Soccer (MLS) Playoffs at the expense of New York Red bulls before joining their national colleagues for the all important qualifier.

The Black Stars team that will begin camping in Kenya on November 12 includes brothers Jordan and Andre Ayew who are making a return to the team after missing some key games.
