Harrison Afful earns a spot in MLS Week 27 Team of the Week, his 61st minute strike against NYCFC competes for Goal of the Week

Columbus Crew Ghanaian defender Harrison Afful joined the Black Stars camp in Kenya in high spirits after his wonder strike against New York City FC over the weekend earned him a spot in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Week 27 Team of the Week.

His 61st minute strike that cancelled NYCFC’s lead did not only help the Crew to an important victory over their Eastern Conference rivals but also earned him the right to compete for the Week 27 Goal of the Week.

The Crew avenged a mid-season loss to NYCFC at the Yankee Stadium when they hosted their rivals at the Mapfre Stadium over the weekend with goals from Harrison Afful and Justin Meram, as each player earned a spot on MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week.

NYCFC scored the opener but Columbus were quick to respond when Afful got a hold of the ball in the 61st minute when a blocked first attempt was rebounded directly back to him before he fired a 25-yard shot to the lower right corner. The goal was the second of the season for Afful who finished the match with 33 passes, two interceptions and one goal.
