Confirmed: Ghana’s Kwadwo Poku joins Russian side Anzhi from Miami FC

Ghana and the Miami FC midfielder Kwadwo Poku, has joined Russian Premier League side FC Anzhi Makhachkala.

The former New York City FC youngster has penned down a 2-year deal with the Russians as he seeks to savor European soccer for the first time in his career.

The Ghanaian signed with the Russian Premier League side on Wednesday after agreeing a deal that will keep him there until 2020.

In August 2017, Poku was handed his first ever international call up when Ghana’s head coach Kwesi Appiah named him among a 24-man squad for Ghana’s World Cup double legged qualifying games against Congo.

Poku who has spent his entire professional career in the United States played a season for the Atlanta Silverbacks in the NASL before joining New York City FC for two years. He has spent the last two seasons with Miami FC in the NASL but the move to Russia will surely afford him the opportunity to taste European soccer.

Anzhi is currently 15th out of 16 teams in the Russian Premier League.
