Washington to host Ghana - Canada friendly
Ghanaians in the United States will have the opportunity to watch their beloved national soccer stars as the senior national team, the Black Stars gear up for a friendly encounter with Canada in Washington DC.
The last time Ghanaians in the US witnessed the Black Stars play on American soil was in February 2012 when the Stars held their Chilean counterparts to a 1-1 draw at the PPL Stadium in Philadelphia.
The friendly against Canada will be played at the RFK Stadium in Washington DC on Tuesday October 13 at 19:00 local time.
Coach Avram Grant’s side will use the match as part of their preparations for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in November where they will face the winner of the first round match between Comoros and Lesotho.
Canada are in a group which include Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador for a chance to reach the final round of the qualifiers.
Ghana currently occupies the 27th position on the FIFA rankings while Canada lies at 102nd position.
The match is being organized by Top Global LLC, an American-based company with Ghanaian interests.
