Ghana’s Gershon Koffie makes MLS Week 6 Team of the Week
Ghana’s Gershon Koffie capped his return from suspension with a stellar performance for Major League Soccer (MLS) side New England Revolution in their 1-1 home draw with Toronto FC.

Koffie’s outstanding midfield performance over the weekend earned him a place in the MLS’ Week 6 Team of the Week.

According to the MLS, Gershon Koffie was influential in the game as he recorded six interceptions, two shots and 92% passing accuracy.

That superlative performance did not go unnoticed as Gershon was named among the four midfielders in the Week 6 Team of the Week with a 3-4-3 formation.

Koffie might have won a place in the Team of the Week but he wasn’t the only Ghanaian who made the headlines in the MLS over the weekend.

When Dominic Oduro’s Montreal Impact clashed with Harrison Afful’s Columbus Crew, it was Oduro who laughed last as the Impact hammered the Crews by 2-0.

Both Ghanaians played the entire duration of the game for their respective clubs.

Patrick Nyarko was in action for 86 minutes when DC United annihilated Gershon Koffie’s former club Vancouver Whitecaps by 4-0.

Lloyd Sam and his Red Bulls teammates are yet to find an antidote to their turbulent start to the season.

The defending Supporters’ Shield Champions succumbed to Sporting KC by 0-2 at home.

Sam played for 65 minutes but compatriot Gideon Baah is yet to return from an injury.

New York City FC were held to a goalless draw by Chicago Fire at the Yankee Stadium. Fan favorite Kwadwo Poku was only introduced to warm down as coach Patrick Vieira puzzled the fans as to why he kept the Ghanaian on the bench until after 90 minutes, meaning the Ghanaian only played the extra time added on.

Chicago’s David Accam did not travel with the team due to a knee injury.

Goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey lasted the entire duration for Portland Timbers in their 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy but young Emmanuel Boateng was an unused substitute for LA Galaxy.
